NTA has announced the tentative date for the JEE Main 2026 Session 2 answer key (April 2-8) as April 11, 2026. The answer key will be available on the NTA official website for all April shifts:  April 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. With the provisional answer key, students will also be able to view the candidate response key. After which, candidates can raise objections.

How to Download the JEE Main 2026 April Session Answer Key

Students can directly download the JEE Main 2026 April session answer key from the NTA official website. Follow the steps below to download the provisional answer key as well as the candidate response sheet. Note that the link will only be available on the official website on April 11, 2026.

Step 1: Visit the official website of NTA – https://jeemain.nta.nic.in/ 

Step 2: Navigate to the link – JEE Main 2026 Session 2 provisional answer key.

Step 3: Click on the link, and a login page will appear.

Step 4: Students will be asked to enter their application number (Session 2) and password (date of birth).

Step 5: With correct responses, the login will be successful.

Step 6: Students will be able to view the candidate response sheet once they have logged in.

Step 7: Click on the candidate response sheet to view your responses.

Step 8: In the top section, you will find a link for the answer key as well. Download the answer key and candidate response sheet.

How to Calculate JEE Main 2026 Marks Using the Answer Key?

Once the candidate response sheet and answer sheet are available, students can easily find out the most accurate score that they can expect during result. NTA follows the same scheme for all sessions and shifts. Students can calculate the score manually or use a calculator for quick results.

• Correct answer – + 4 marks
• Wrong answer – (-1) marks
• Unattempted question – 0 marks
• Numerical correct answer – +4 marks
• Numericals wrong answer – 0 marks

Direct Formula to calculate JEE Main raw score

Below is the direct formula students can use to calculate their JEE Main 2026 score instantly. To get the values for the formula, students will have to first go through the response sheet. Go through each question one by one and tally the chosen option with the correct answer from the answer key. Find out the number of correct answers and the number of wrong answers, where -1 marks will be deducted.

Raw Score Formula = (Number of Correct Answers * 4) – (Number of Wrong Answers * 1)

Using this formula, candidates can find out their raw final score in the Session 2 paper for that particular shift. 

How to Challenge JEE Main 2026 Provisional Answer Key?

NTA follows a specific chain of events when it comes to releasing the answer key before the results. As soon as the exam commences, NTA will first release the provisional answer key, which is not the final answer key. Students are allowed to raise objections against any answer they believe is incorrect. The JEE Main 2026 Session 2 April concluded on April 8, 2026. NTA released the provisional answer key on 11th April, 2026. And results will be declared tentatively on April 20, 2026. Students have time between 11th April and 15th April, 2026, to raise objections tentatively. The window for the answer key challenges will be announced soon.

Process to Challenge JEE Main 2026 Answer Key

A candidate who has appeared for JEE Main 2026 Session 2 can challenge any answer. For every question challenged, the student will have to pay a 200 rupee fee, which is non-refundable and does not guarantee that the correct answer option ID will be changed. It will only be reviewed and changed if evaluators feel the candidate’s challenge is correct. Follow the guide below:

• Visit the official website of NTA: https://jeemain.nta.nic.in/
• Navigate to the candidate’s activity section or go to the top-most section of the main page.
• Find the link to – “Answer key challenge JEE Main Session II”.
• At this stage, students will have to enter their application number, date of birth, and security pin.
• Find the question ID of the question you want to challenge and select it. The question ID is mentioned in the question paper and the answer key.
• Choose the answer that you believe should be the correct one.
• Here, candidates need to submit valid proof supporting their claim. Upload the valid supporting document, which can be an NCERT page or any reference.
• Pay the fee based on the number of questions chosen to challenge. 200/- rupees will be charged for every question challenged, and payment can be made via debit card, credit card, net banking, UPI, or PAYTM.
• Submit the challenge and download the confirmation page as proof.

Matrix JEE experts suggest that students should only challenge the questions if they are confident and have proper proof to support their claim. Once all the challenged questions are reviewed, a final answer key of JEE Main 2026 Session 2 will be released between 15th April and 20th April, 2026, tentatively.
