The JEE Main 2026 Session 1 January 21 Shift 2 examination is finally over across all centres nationwide. The exam was held on January 21 (3 PM–6 PM). The JEE Main Exam is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in computer-based test (CBT) mode. The Session 1 exam will continue until January 29, 2026, with morning and afternoon shifts each day for Paper 1 (BE/B.Tech).

JEE Main 2026 January 21 Shift 2 Exam (Shift Timing & Structure)
The JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Shift 2 examination was conducted on January 21, 2026, in the afternoon shift from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The entry gates were closed at 2:30 PM, and candidates were allowed to log in and read instructions from 2:50 PM onwards. As per the marking scheme, 4 marks were awarded for each correct answer, while 1 mark was deducted for every incorrect response.

JEE Main 2026 Session 1, both shifts, has successfully completed. The JEE Main 2026 Jan 21 shift 2 ended at 3 PM. The overall difficulty level of the paper can be said to be of a moderate level. JEE Main 2026 Jan 21 Shift 2 Chemistry Paper Analysis
The chemistry section of JEE Main 2026 Session 1 Shift 2 is said to be of moderate level difficulty. Many questions were NCERT-oriented and slightly lengthy, with a mix of physical, organic, and inorganic chemistry. 2 questions came from coordination compounds, 4 questions from organic chemistry, 2 questions from chemical bonding and many from inorganic chemistry.
- The overall chemistry section was standard and of moderate level.
- 5-6 questions were direct and of an easy level.
- 13-14 questions were of a moderate level, which is basically the JEE Main level. But some of them were lengthy as well.
- 3-4 questions were of a difficult level.
- As the paper had numericals and calculations, the time taken to attempt this section in Shift 2 was said to be 40-45 minutes.
Students with thorough preparation for almost a year can easily attempt 16-17 questions targeting 65+ marks.
